Today we talk about a variety of animal mental health issues in the veterinary field including depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. We spend most of our time on anxiety and talk a little about the how we have looked at animal mental health over the last few decades.

On this weeks episode we talk about Foxtails. No not the cute cuddly little creature, but the terrible annoying weed that grows and causes tons of problems in your animals paws, ears and more.

This week we take on the big report that was dropped by the FDA regarding grain free dog foods. The report hit the pet owner world and we see that it raised more questions than anything else. So we look at the history of grain free diets and try to best explain why people started feeding their pets grain free diets in the first place. Then Amanda gives her expert opinion on grain free diets and her thoughts on what you should do when deciding on a food for your dog.

With this episode we are starting a series on animal nutrition. For those of you in the know, there recently was a study done by the FDA regarding grain free diets. This raised a lot of questions about nutrition and overall issues regarding what we should be feeding our pets. So to start the series off we hit on raw diets. The good, the bad, the gross and the questions surrounding the diet as a whole. 

This week we take a break from the medical talk and discuss women in veterinary medicine. We will talk about how women were first viewed by people in the profession, some amazing women who paved the way for others to join into the profession today and Amanda gives her breakdown of what it is like to be a women in the vet world today. 

Today we take a look at Heartworm Disease. Amanda gives a great breakdown of what it is, how animals get it and she drops a bomb on Jacob revealing that humans can get it too!! We also look at what is know about heartworm in regards to history and look at treatments and prevention for it.  

On this episode we do a quick overview of the major events in veterinary medicine history. We go back as early as 3000 B.C. and cover events all the way up to today. Join us as we explore some amazing stories and as we figure out this whole podcast thing!
